On 28 October 2024, Mr. Frank Yu (Associate at Chen & Chang, Attorneys-at-Law) participated in the Vis Moot Prep Course co-organized by Dr. Stephan Wilske (Partner at Gleiss Lutz) and Mr. Houchih Kuo (Senior Counsel at Kuo & Kuo Attorneys-at-Law). Frank shared his experience with teams of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and National Taiwan University participating in the 32nd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“Vis Moot”).
Frank started with an introduction to the experiences of our Partners, Helena Chen C.Arb FCIArb PhD and Alison Chang FCIArb, as arbitrators both in real life and in moot arbitration for years. Then, from his experience of being awarded Honourable Mention for Best Memorandum on behalf of Claimant and Honourable Mention for Best Memorandum on behalf of Respondent in previous Vis East Moot, being awarded Runner-up in previous Moot Shanghai, and assisting the practice of mooters, Frank shared with the mooters the approaches to write a memorandum, to deliver an oral argument, and further highlighted many practical learning resources and matters need attention. The entire faculty had lively interactions with the mooters and in-depth discussions about the ways to better prepare for the Vis Moot.
