The “Introduction to ICC Arbitration” training program, co-organized by the Continuing Education Committee, the Cross-Border Transaction and Dispute Resolution Committee, and the Communications Law Committee of the Taipei Bar Association (“TBA”), was successfully held on 28 December 2024. The training program attracted nearly 80 attorneys and fostered lively discussions and active participation, demonstrating a strong interest in international arbitration.

To cultivate younger practitioners’ perspectives in international arbitration, TBA invited Jasmine Fang, Esq., Deputy Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, as well as Helena Chen C.Arb FCIArb PhD, our Managing Partner and Member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration to speak on the topics: “Introduction to the ICC International Court of Arbitration” and “ICC Arbitration Activities and Resources in Asia.” Helena highlighted practical tools including the ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin and ICC DRS App, providing attendees with practical and professional insights to enhance their competence and expertise in international arbitration.

Additionally, our Partner, Alison Chang FCIArb, former North Asia Representative of the ICC Young Arbitration and ADR Forum (“ICC YAAF”), together with the current North Asia Representative, Chengkai Wang, Esq., introduced the resources and platforms offered by ICC YAAF. They inspired younger practitioners to leverage these tools for broadening their professional horizons, deepening their arbitration expertise, and building international connections so as to open up new career opportunities. Furthermore, Chia-Hsin Wu MCIArb, Secretary General of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Taiwan Branch Young Members Group (“Ciarb Taiwan YMG”), shared valuable insights into promoting international arbitration through Ciarb Taiwan YMG.

During the panel discussion, Helena, along with distinguished experts including Anthony Yang, Esq., Vincent Wang, Esq., Jeffrey Li, Esq., Tien-Lun Wu, Esq., and Jasmine Fang, Esq., engaged in a lively exchange on ICC arbitration practices. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including professional qualifications, representation skills, the role of expert witnesses, etc. These multifaceted insights significantly enriched participants’ understanding of international arbitration.
