Chen & Chang’s associate, Bill Kao, is honored to have been selected as a Paris Arbitration Week Fellow and to have participated in the 10th Paris Arbitration Week held in late March 2026

Updated: May 2

Paris Arbitration Week (“PAW”) has reached its 10th edition in 2026 and has become one of the must-attend annual events in the international arbitration community. In 2026, PAW selected eight young arbitration practitioners as the inaugural PAW Fellows. Through approximately twenty online and in-person events, the Fellows were given the opportunity to closely interact with the international arbitration community and to familiarize themselves with cutting-edge issues in international arbitration.

Chen & Chang’s associate, Bill Kao, has focused his practice in recent years on commercial arbitration matters related to the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to his legal work, Bill has a strong passion for the French language and culture. Bill is deeply honored to have been part of the inaugural cohort of PAW Fellows and to revisit Paris, an arbitral seat with a profound history in arbitration and highly favored by parties.

During his time in Paris, Bill visited many courts, arbitral institutions, universities, and law firms located in Paris, and closely interacted with arbitration practitioners and professors from the Francophone and Anglophone worlds. The topics discussed ranged from the fundamental principles and issues of arbitration to the latest and forthcoming amendments to French arbitration law, as well as revisions to the arbitration rules of leading arbitral institutions. Through these interactions and discussions, he observed the thriving arbitration environment in Paris and felt the expectations and support that leading arbitration practitioners have for the younger generation of lawyers.

Bill is very grateful to the PAW Board and his colleagues at Chen & Chang, whose support made this trip to Paris extremely smooth and fruitful. He also looks forward to using the insights gained from this trip to provide better services to the clients of Chen & Chang.
