On 31 October 2025, Chen & Chang’s partner, Helena Chen, was invited as a commentator at the Conference on “International Arbitration Costs: Practical Perspectives and Insights” co-hosted by the Taiwan Bar Association and Chinese Arbitration Association, Taipei (CAA) during the Taiwan Arbitration Week. Helena explained that, to promote efficiency, the ICC International Court of Arbitration may, depending on the circumstances, reduce the arbitrators’ fees (by a specified percentage) if the arbitral tribunal delays in submitting the draft award for scrutiny. She also referred to a report published by the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, which provides data on the proportion of “ICC administrative expenses”, “Arbitrators’ fees and expenses”, and “Parties’ costs (mainly lawyers’ fees and experts’ fees)” respectively in arbitration cases administered by the ICC International Court of Arbitration. This information helps the audience better understand the overall cost and fee structure of international arbitration proceedings.
