From 9 to 11 July 2025, the Ninth Global Biennial Conference of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) was held in grand fashion at the College of Law, National Taiwan University. This marked the first time SIEL has hosted its global conference in Taiwan, attracting distinguished scholars and experts from around the world to discuss the critical issues facing international economic law society today.
On 10 July, Chen & Chang's Associate, Claire Liu, served as the moderator for Panel 22: “AI Regulation and International Economic Law.” The panel featured Professor Anthony Abad from Ateneo de Manila University, Professor Rostam Neuwirth from the University of Macau, and Dr Marta Soprana from LSE IDEAS. The discussion focused on the challenges and adjustments that the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies poses to the international economic regulatory framework and explored cross-jurisdictional comparisons and global governance models from diverse professional perspectives.
Claire masterfully guided panel discussions and engaged audiences. The speakers and audiences engaged from multiple angles, including international trade law, competition law and cross-border governance models, fostering in-depth comparative and cross-cultural dialogue and offering valuable academic insights and practical experience.
