Chen & Chang’s partner, Alison Chang, FCIArb, Vice Chair of the ADR Committee of the Taiwan Bar Association (“TWBA”) and Convenor of Ciarb Taiwan Chapter, was invited to deliver a lecture on “Cross-Border Commercial Dispute Resolution Mechanisms” on 8 May 2026, as part of the “Practical Legal Risk Management for International Business” lecture series co-organized by the NCCU Department of International Business, the Attorneys Academy and the International Trade Negotiation Committee of the TWBA.

With a lively and approachable style, Alison guided the audience through the key mechanisms for resolving cross-border commercial disputes, highlighting the advantages and features of arbitration. Her lecture covered an introduction to the 1958 New York Convention, the differences between institutional and ad hoc arbitration, global survey findings on the most preferred seats of arbitration and institutions, and key considerations for drafting arbitration agreements.

In the Q&A session, the engaging audience responded with a wide range of questions, covering recognition and enforcement of Taiwanese awards in foreign jurisdictions, factors to be considered when choosing an arbitral institution, and arbitration career paths, etc. Alison entertained these questions with her abundant experiences. Her candid and detailed replies were well received by the audience.
